Reflection 2

My Reflection is on the Norwegian cooking class where we learned how to make the Norwegian national food also known as Fårikål

in all my years of living in Norway, I can still say that I am not sure I can get used to eating Norwegian food, it is simple and very easy to make, not like in my country it takes hours to make but still, the taste is very different and the spices are world apart.
well, the class started when the teacher ex+plained the history of the fårikål and why it is the national dish. the teacher said that it became the national dish in 2014 when people voted on a radio station . so it was really interesting to learn that many people considered this a national dish.

we were divided into three different groups with two groups made the dish and the other group baked an apple cake. although I have eaten førikøl before this was my first time cooking it and i never knew how to do it so it was a very eye-opening experience, I really enjoyed chopping the cabbage and put in the meat. well we didn’t really know how much water we were supposed to put inside but we learned any way it was fun to learn that very thing has to be measured so it will turn out exactly like the recipe says I found that very strange and different to what I am used to when I am making food for my home country which is you cook with your heart and how to were taught. while waiting for the food to simmer we were given a task to ask som,e of the Norwegian student about their eating habits. we asked a couple of questions including what is the national dish and most of the people said it was førikøl. for me, this was the first I never knew that. I also got to hear different answers on different questions and it was really interesting

we came back to class and the dish was ready we discussed the difference between our eating habits and the Norwegian eating habits that we found out on the survey. and I learned a lot from that class. i can clearly say that the førikøl dish was delicious and I really liked it but it is not something I can eat every time. my reflection on all the cooking classes that we have had has been very interesting learning the history behind the food was my favorite part of the leason. so the class ended with all of us enjoying the food and the apple cake for dessert.
