A map showing where is my home town

A map showing where is my home town

Welcome everyone to my blog, first of all I want to introduce myself to you, because it’s interesting for you to know a bit about the place I came from, and which are my feelings after my first two weeks in the new country.

I’m from Ontinyent, a small city at the south of Valencia, we are only 35500 habitants, but it’s a really nice place that you should visit if you have the chance. During the last few years I’ve been studying at the University of Valencia for becoming a physical education teacher, at primary education (from 6 to 12 years). Now I’m in my last year of the degree and I decided to study in a different place, because I want to learn how norwegian teach to children and get a different point of view for teach physical education.

I choose this speciality because since I was a child I’ve been practising several sports like ski, basketball, hiking, swimming, cycling and dancing…But I only get a professional level at ski and dancing. Even so, this activity helps me to be focus on my studies and organize myself better, because I could diconnect from school. So that’s why I want to show children, how fun could be practice sport with friends.

At least from my experience, I think that it’s really necessary show children that sports are not boring or frustrating, because as soon as most of them feel unconfutable with physical activities they’ll try to avoid them.  A part of the studies of the university I’m working in a dance company (masters ballet)  performing on street festivals at severals towns near home, and also I’m  studying for became a ski monitor for working this winter when I came back to Spain.

I decided to study in Norway because it’s a country with huge green areas where you can practice physical activities while you’re enjoying the incredible views of the nature. For this reason I admire the paths here, because you’re at the city, but is like you’re at the forest all the time with the lakes and the vegetation, that’s amazing!

Campus of Vestfold (USN)

When I arrived to Vestfold I was really impressed of how new the campus was, and all the facilities and help they give to international students. They have a lot of useful informative talks, but the best thing of the first week that they organized was the student festival because we had the opportunity of meet new people around the world. My campus in Spain is luminous as here because there are a lot of large windows, however, they don’t give you as many facilities as here for incoming students.

Plaça redona (Valencia)

After explore the nearest surroundings I realized that this area has similarities with my home town, for example, the beaches, the tower of Tonsberg seems el Micalet of Valencia, and I found a place in Tonsberg, which is really similar to my favourite square in Valencia as you could see in the photo.

Some studies shows that people used to be afraid of going out their comfort zone, because it could be difficult sometimes. Most of my friend said me that during the winter I will miss the Spanish sun and warm temperatures, the food and the nature of the people. But after two weeks here I can say that the experience worthwhile so I encourage you to come here or another place out of your home town if you have the occasion.
